Setting up Outlook Express in Windows XP

Open Outlook Express by pressing Start > All Programs > Outlook Express.

Note: If this is the first time you have used Outlook Express the Wizard will begin automatically - jump to stage3.

Stage 1: Click onto Tools at the top menu.


Stage 2: Select Accounts. Then click onto the Mail tab within the Internet Accounts box.


Stage 3: A menu will appear, click Add...


-and select Mail. This will launch an Internet Connection Wizard.
 

Stage 4: On this screen enter your Display Name ? you can use capital letters and spaces here. The "Display Name" is your real name, and will appear as the 'from' name on emails that you send.

Click the Next button at the bottom.


Stage 5: Enter your E-mail address in the field provided. You should use lowercase letters, and do not include any spaces.

Click Next.



Stage 6: Leave "My incoming mail server is a" as POP3.

Enter: mail.freeola.net for the Incoming mail (POP3) server.

Type your local ISP's SMTP address in the SMTP text box. Check with your ISP for details. If you connect to the Internet via another ISP, you should use the Outgoing mail server used by the connecting Internet Service Provider.

The server names are case sensitive so do not include any capital letters, or spaces.

Click Next.



Stage 7: Your username (your "sr" number issued to you when you signed-up to theopenworld.com e-mail service) must be entered in the "Account name" field.
Type your "Password" in the field provided, remember that usernames and passwords are case sensitive.

Make sure the tick box next to Log on using Secure Password Authentication (SPA) is empty or unchecked.

Click Next.



Stage 8: Click Finish to complete the setup of the account.


That's it! You're ready to go and send e-mails using your theopenworld.com e-mail account.
