You're in: Home   >  Help   >  Email Setup  >  Mail > Setting up Mac OS-X E-mail

Stage 1: Open Mail.
Go to Mail > Preferences.

Stage 2: Click on the Create Account Button.
A new window will open (see example below).

Stage 3:

  • Select POP in the drop down menu if not currently selected. Make a friendly name for this mail account in the Description text box. For example: Your e-mail address, work, business, personal, etc...
  • Type in your e-mail address, yourusername@theopenworld.com in the Email Address text box.
  • Type in the name you want to be displayed for your e-mail address in the Full Name text box (you can use capital letters and spaces here).
  • The "Full Name text" is your real name, and will appear as the 'from' name on emails that you send.

Stage 4:

  • Type mail.freeola.net in the Host name text box.
  • Your username (your "sr" number issued to you when you signed-up to theopenworld.com e-mail service) must be entered in the user name text box.
  • Type your password in the Password text box.

Stage 5: Type your local ISP's SMTP address in the SMTP text box. Check with your ISP for details. If you connect to the Internet via another ISP, you should use the Outgoing mail server used by the connecting Internet Service Provider. For example: smtp.YOURISP.com

Click the Account Options tab near the top of the Mail Preferences.
Adjust the settings. The example below is the preferred method.
Click on the OK button.

That's it! You're ready to go and send e-mails using your theopenworld.com e-mail account.
